FAQs
When one of our agents connects with a customer for an initial home tour, it’s usually the first time they’ve met face to face. We verify each customer’s identity beforehand to ensure the safety of our agents.
After scheduling a tour on our website, you’ll get a notification that we’ve received your tour request. Our local team will get to work confirming the availability of the home and our agents. If the home isn’t available to tour at the time you requested, we’ll contact you and figure out a time that works better for everyone. If it’s your first tour with us, we’ll ask you to verify your identity.
Once we have the details all set, we’ll reach out to let you know your tour is a go. A confirmation email will include the name of the touring agent as well as the date, time, and location of your tour.
When you tour with a RealtyGo Agent or independent contractor Associate Agent, you have a real estate expert on your side who has in-depth local knowledge and can point out things about the property you may miss. Our agents will never pressure you to buy, no matter how many homes you tour. If you do decide to make an offer, the agent can get the process started right away.
Touring with RealtyGo also allows you to see a home when it fits your schedule and can give you an advantage over buyers who wait for an open house. Because our agents are backed by teams who streamline the scheduling process, we can often provide same-day tours.
Unlike some brokerages, RealtyGo will never make you sign a contract before your tour, so you can feel good about scheduling tours without worrying about being tied to a particular agent.
Not at all! Just choose a tour date and time that work best for you, and RealtyGo will do the rest by scheduling an agent to lead the tour. If the date and time you’ve chosen aren’t available, we’ll contact you to reschedule.
Absolutely! A RealtyGo Agent or independent contractor Associate Agent will take you to see your first home tour, and as many as you want after that. Our agents take the time to get to know you and your needs, providing expert advice about the home and the neighborhood—with no pressure to buy.
RealtyGo will ask that you get pre-approved before your third tour with us, and possibly earlier in certain areas and during times of high demand. Getting pre-approved shows sellers that you’re serious about a home purchase. And if you tour a home you really love, being pre-approved makes the offer process faster and easier.
A checklist that’s worth reviewing
Before you begin touring, research homes online and start narrowing down your must-haves versus nice-to-haves. Then try to find homes to tour within your price range. When you get more serious about your house hunt, you’ll want a trustworthy real estate agent to help point out flaws, keep you within your budget, and tell you when to walk away.
Open houses
If you’re early in your home-buying process, attending several open houses can help you get an even clearer idea of your wants and needs. Open houses are easy because you just show up and walk right in. Most open houses take place on Saturday and Sunday, usually between 10 am and 4 pm.
Private home tours
Privately touring a home generally requires working with a buyer’s agent. A private tour is the best way to see a home in detail. Book a tour that will allow you enough time to get a feel not only for the home itself but also for the surrounding neighborhood.

Things to look for when buying a house
Once inside a home, try everything. Follow common courtesy but don’t be shy—open and shut the cupboards, flush the toilets, and whip out the measuring tape. Here are a few key things to look for on each tour:
- Architectural style
- Number, location, and size of bedrooms
- Number, location, and size of bathrooms
- Closet and storage space
- Number of floors
- Sight lines through home
- General floorplan
- Age and condition of appliances
- Light switches and number of sockets in each room
- Plumbing and water pressure
- Amount of natural light and views, if any
- Noise levels inside and outside the home
- Width and types of stairways
- Porches and decks
- Garage and/or parking capacity
- Proximity to neighboring homes
- Remodeling opportunities
In order to make the best decision about the home you are thinking about buying, get your agent’s honest opinion about it during the house tour: the good, the bad and the ugly. Here are some questions to get you started.
1. What do you like about the home?
Agents tour homes every day. Pick your agent’s brain for the unique qualities that stand out. But also make sure the home will function in all the ways that will meet your needs.
2. Do you have any concerns?
This is a really important question to ask, especially before you fall in love with the property. Make sure you’re aware of the home’s potential flaws. Does it lack storage space? Will it cost a fortune to heat in the winter? Your agent may notice things you would never have thought of.
3. Is the price right?
To see if the home is fairly priced, your agent will compare the sale price with that of similar homes that have recently sold in the area. They’ll have a good sense of whether or not the home is overpriced, or if the seller might have priced it really low on purpose to create bidding wars.
4. How long has it been on the market?
If it’s a new listing, don’t expect the sellers to strike a bargain with you. But if it’s been sitting on the market for a while, they may be more willing to negotiate their asking price. When a property doesn’t sell right away, many buyers assume there must be something wrong with it. In reality, it may have originally been listed at too high of a price.
5. Are any repairs needed?
Try to see past the beautiful kitchen or amazing backyard; take a close look at the overall condition and age of the home. The sellers will disclose all of the known issues about the home after you’ve reached an agreement on the price and terms of your offer. Sometimes they will disclose these issues in advance, especially if the home has gone back on the market after a home inspection. You’ll want to know if the issues have been fixed or how costly the repairs will be.
It’s easy to fall in love with a home at first sight. It takes a trustworthy real estate agent to point out it’s flaws and tell you when to walk away. RealtyGo Agents are paid a salary, not just commission. That means they’re looking out for your best interests, not an easy sale.
